The AU Conference Center and Office Complex (AUCC) is one of the key projects in Africa that were funded by the Chinese Government. Costing USD 200 million, the AUCC is the largest aid project by the Chinese Government in Africa after the Tanzania-Zambia Railway. The general contractor is China Construction Eighth Engineering Division. The AUCC is located in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa, where the African Union is headquartered. The total land area of the Project is 112,669 square meters, and the gross floor area is 51,877 square meters. The AUCC consists of the office building, the conference building and the ancillary facilities. The main construction is 99.9 meters high and it has one base floor and 20 floors above the ground. The AUCC is the largest aid project by the Chinese Government in Africa and also another historic project in Sino-African relations after the Tanzania-Zambia Railway, praised as a milestone in the traditional Sino-African friendship and cooperation in the new era. The entire project uses a total of 16 elevators and escalators of SMEC, which is responsible for the installation.
